The Spiritual Baptist Church of Barbados was founded by the Reverend Granville Williams in 1957. Their services are filled with song, dance, rituals, and brightly colored clothing.


In 1986 I was invited by Pearl Primus, choreographer, dancer, and anthropologist, to document the ceremony elevating Williams from Bishop to Archbishop of the Spiritual Baptists of Barbados.
